Welcome to the newest group in the Cuala Academy.
Táimid an-sásta leis an tús atá curtha againn leis an nGrúpa 2004 in Acadamh Cuala. Tá 110 páiste cláraithe linn agus breis is 90 ag teacht maidin Shathairn. Tá a lán de na tuismitheoirí in ár gnrúpa ag cabhrú go rialta agus mar sin éiríonn go maith leis na seisiúin.Thus far this year we have had a workshop on the stations and a meeting of parents. At our meeting we decided that we would accept 110 children then see how we cope with those numbers before accepting any more but that our aim should be to accommodate all who wish to become involved.
We intend to follow a plan somewhat similar to the 2003s last year. We’ll stick with the ABC (Agility, Balance, Co-ordination) stations until Christmas. In January we’ll introduce drills more specifically aimed at the skills of hurling and Gaelic football and then from April – after Easter – we’ll introduce more games to prepare us for the Mini All-Ireland. We have developed our store of ABC stations so we have 20 in all now. This lets us maintain variety which helps to keep the children interested.
We’re delighted with the number of girls in the group, upwards of 30 sometimes. We group the girls together but those who wish to can be in a mixed group with boys.
On Saturday 24th October all the children who turned up (72 despite the holiday) made Halloween Hats as well as doing some stations in the hall. Thanks to Cristín Reddin who organized it to and all the parents who helped out.
Thanks to:
- All the parents who have been brilliant in getting involved and offering to help.
- The Academy Committee and its Cathaoirleach Breege English for the support we’ve received.
- All the children whose behaviour and application has been excellent.
- Everyone for their punctuality. We’re actually starting our first groups at 9.25 because the children are so eager and the stations are ready to go.
