The Dermot Earley Youth Leadership Initiative was launched in Cuala on Wednesday night. Fifteen participants from South Dublin have undertaken a programme of personal development and leadership skills founded in the memory of Roscommon legend Dermot Earley. The initiative was piloted in two counties last year and will take place in 8 counties around the country this year. Cuala’s Con O’ Callaghan, who captained the Dublin Minor footballer’s last year, spoke to the participants about his personal experiences of motivation, work and leadership, Con’s salient words were consumed by the audience which included 10 Cuala participants. The programme will continue until next summer and lead to a level 6 qualification and a graduation from NUIG. Best of luck to all the participants and many thanks to Con who advised the participants ‘Leadership is about showing example’ and he clearly demonstrated this at the launch last night
