Meeting - Tuesday, February 5th
Player Registrations and Membership
The final date for player and mentor registration has been pushed
back to February 19th, after which time players will no linger be
permitted to train or play with the club until such time as they
are registered.
Finance and fundraising
An issue has arisen with the payment for new goalposts that are
used only by the U8 and U9 age groups. It was proposed that the
age groups who benefit should be the ones to pay for this equipment.
The Juvenile Committee will bear the cost and take payment from
the 1999's, 2000's and 2001 groups as they move up to the Juvenile
section. The 1998's have already made a payment for this equipment
having used it towards the end of last year.
A proposal was put to the meeting concerning a major fundraiser
for the Juvenile section and each age group within. It is hoped
that 'A Cuala Night at the Dogs' could raise in the region of €20,000.
This may be run jointly in 2008 with the adult section that are
also looking at its merits. A proposed date of May 15th has been
provisionally booked so as to avoid clashing with the Academy race
night or the Golf Classic.
Coiste
Club Cathaoirleach John Treacy gave the meeting an update on the
upgrade of facilities at Thomastown and Meadowvale.
County Board
We need to appoint a CCC2 Delegate, to replace Breege Dromgoole
who is stepping down from the role, but who will remain as our referee's
coordinator.
Don't forget to let Ken O'Sullivan know all results as they happen
at the weekend. Fines of €50 per team are being handed out
from Parnell Park for those who fail to notify their scores.
Coaching
Turnout from the Juvenile section for the initial Cuala Coaching
Conference was very strong.
Stephen Connolly from the U9 (1999) will be the Juvenile Section
representative on the Coaching Committee.
Marketing and PR
Zita circulated a document from Michael Goodwin updating us on the
continued development of the Cuala website. All age groups are urged
once again to support the website team by submitting match reports,
pictures and news.
Teams
Good luck to John McKeown and the U14's who will travel to Nemo
Rangers in a bid to defend the Nemo Cup won so magnificently last
year.
Well done to the U11's who had almost 40 parents attend the age
group agm.
Well done to the U14B's who returned home all in one piece from
their trip to Carlingford
Well done also to the U10's who had 16 parents attend a special
skills and drills course organised by Ken Fitzgerald.
The U9's are on the look out for any team kits which older groups
have grown out of. They start their Cuala juvenile careers with
their first league fixtures on February 9th.
Next Meeting
Tuesday February 19th (to deliver completed registrations.)
Tuesday, March 6th. (full)
Meeting 11th December 2007
2008 Football Leagues
Entries have been made for the 2008 football leagues. The first
fixtures will take place on the weekend of 26th January for U12
up to U16; on the weekend of 2nd February for the U11’s; and
on the weekend of 9th February for the U9’s and U10’s
in each of which we will field six teams.
2008 Hurling Leagues
Entries for the Hurling Leagues will be made in January.
Pitch Allocations
U9 and U10 will play at Thomastown on Saturday mornings. U11 and
U12 will play at Clonkeen College. Other age groups will be as before.
It has been proposed that Hyde Road will be available to the Féile
group, where possible.
Loreto Training
Pitch allocation at Loreto needs to be discussed between the groups
and will be finalised for Mid January to April at the January meeting.
Club Registration
Cuala club registration forms will be distributed by mentors in
early January. An accompanying letter explaining the need for club
membership, and the difference between this and team subs will accompany
the form. All registrations must be completed by January 31st.
Age Group Planning
Each age group has been asked to make its own planning arrangements
for 2008 as early as possible in the New Year. Coaching, player
welfare, team and group objectives, fundraising and parental involvement
will be the key areas for each group to deal with. Age group representatives
will collectively discuss the issues arising from these meetings
at the end of the cycle in order to bring greater consistency and
support where needed without being too prescriptive on groups own
ability to manage themselves.
Fundraising
The U9 (1998) Christmas Tree sale raised a little over €2,200
profit. Sincere thanks to those who bought and more importantly
those who sold trees in foul conditions over the weekend and without
the benefit of a full academy session to drive sales.
Coaching Conference
The Club will be putting on a coaching
conference on Saturday January 12th in the Halla. Their will
be breakout sessions specifically covering hurling and football
coaching skills for the U10-U12 and the U13-U16 groups. All mentors
and coaches involved with the age groups are expected to attend
for what should be a very worthwhile session.
N ext Meeting
The next full meeting of the Juvenile Committee will take place
at 9pm on Tuesday, January 8th, 2008. If you wish to raise any specific
issues, please call Rob on 086 3851955 or Ken on 087 2357093.
Merry Christmas and a very happy 2008 to all those who have played
a part in the club through 2007, and to those we have played against.
