Cuala Juvenile Girls Annual Awards
The Juvenile Girls annual awards were held last Sunday
and was a fitting end to another very successful year with 125 girls
receiving awards and two trophies proudly on display, the U12 Division
3 Football Championship cup and the U11 Division 1 Football Shield.
Over 250 players and family members were in attendance to see each
of the girls' teams receive awards from a number of very special
guest presenters. Double junior camogie All Ireland winner Jean
Murphy from Skerries Harps helped with the camogie awards. Dublin
Ladies football captain Denise Masterson from Naomh Mearnog helped
with the football awards and three of Cuala's own Dublin intercounty
stars of 2009 were also on hand to make a number of the presentations,
Leinster Minor football winners, Conor O'Brien and Mark Schutte
and hurling All Star nominee David Treacy.
The 2001s (U8s) opened proceedings as they formally graduated from
the Academy section of the club and were officially welcomed into
the Girls Juvenile section receiving their Graduation Certificates.
Next up were the 2000's (U9s) who were each awarded camogie medals
having had a very successful first year in the Girls Juvenile section
winning all but one of their U9 camogie league games. The 1999s
(U10s) received football medals for a great year in which they went
unbeaten in all their football games. The 1998s (U11s) received
their Division 1 football shield winners medals and a number of
individual awards were presented, the highlights being to Sinead
Murphy for U11 camogie player of the year and Saoirse Gallagher
for U11 football player of the year. The 1997s (U12s) received their
Division 3 football championship winners medals and another number
of individual awards were presented, the highlights being to Ciara
McKeown for U12 camogie player of the year and Rebecca Meaney for
U12 football player of the year. Finally the 1996s (U13s) received
the Girls Juvenile sections first ever camogie medals for finishing
runners up in Division 3. They also received their Division 2 football
shield runners up medals. The U13 camogie player of the year award
went to Fiona Duffy and the U13 football player of the year went
to Cathy Johnson.
A great evening was had by everyone and many thanks to all who
helped to make sure the event was such a great success. We're already
looking forward to next year ......................
