Cuala Ladies Football Section 2008 Mentors Coaches
An impressive away win for the girls from Cuala. With the help of four U13 girls and Andy Craddock, the girls played well. From Aisling's penalty save, right up the field to the forwards, every girl played her heart out. Clontarf had a few strong girls midfield but Martha, Doireann, Grainne & Orla kept them in check. Claire got injured in the first half after a very strong performance and is out now with a fractured finger. The sunshine and the result put a smile on all our faces. 15/09/08 Under 14 Div 1: St Brigids vs Cuala After last week's impressive win and having been beaten by Brigids in the Feile, the girls were looking forward to the challenge of meeting them again. Unfortunately, due to illness, injury and a bad turn-out, we were unable to field a team and forfeited this match at the eleventh hour. Many Thanks to all the girls who did show up. On Saturday 20th, we're away to Clontarf. Let's hope we fare better then! 08/09/08 Under 14 Div 1: Cuala 7-10, Skerries Harps 1-3 After last week's thrashing by Ballinteer, the U14s redeem themselves with a good score and a strong team performance. Hard luck to the Skerries girls who had made the long journey out to Meadowvale. In spite of a few fast and talented Skerries players, the Cuala girls passed the ball well and were able to get the scores home. 01/09/08 Under 14 Div 1: Ballyboden St Endas 5-14, 0-4 Cuala A disappointing game from Cuala's point of view. Having beaten Ballyboden in such an exciting match in the Feile, we held our own in the first half but just didn't come out in the second half at all. Not much more to say! 12/05/08 Under 14 Div 1: Cuala 4-7, Na Fianna 5-2 Following on from a great perfromance at Feile, the Under 14s hoped to continue their success on their home ground. We were missing Claire & Grainne was under the weather (balmy and all as it was!). Na Fianna were very physical opponents and meant business right from the start. Grainne went bravely in to goal to face the onslaught. Na Fianna made good on all opportunities and lead right through both halves of the match. Cuala missed chance after chance and we feared it wasn't going to be our day! With great defending, our backs Aisling, Fiona & Elinor kept us within a fighting distance. With 20 seconds to go, we were a point down and Na Fianna were anxious to finish the game. Cuala's midfield had other ideas and sent the ball into Sally who slammed it into the net. With the goalie's kick-out, the ref blew the whistle. Na Fianna felt they'd been robbed having led in all except the last minute of the match. Cuala was triumphant - let's not leave it until the last minute next time! 26 & 27/04/08 Under 14 Div 1 Feile The highs and lows of Ladies Football! The Under 14s, pictured below, made it to the Feile Semi Finals, coming first in the Group of Death. 21/04/08 Under 14 Div 1: Thomas Davis 2-6, Cuala 5-6 At last a win for the Under 14 team! Read Match Report 14/04/08 Under 14 Div 1: Cuala 2-4, Naomh Barrog 6-1 An encouraging improvement on last week's performance wasn't enough last night. Read Match Report 07/04/08 Under 14 Ladies 1st League Match of Season (Ballinteer St. Johns 8-6, Cuala 1-1) In spite of great performances from Elinor & Aoife , the Under 14s got a bit of hammering from a very strong Ballinteer team.
