The 2007 Cuala S.S.I.P. League ran from Tuesday 18th September culminating
in the finals day on Tuesday 23rd October. The league
was run parallel with the main Dublin schools Gaelic football competition
run by Cumann na mBunscoil. The idea of the competition was to provide
a competitive outlet to first teams of schools who aren’t yet strong
enough to enter the Cumann na mBunscoil competitions and to also
provide meaningful games to children on second and third teams in
the stronger schools thereby raising the standard of Gaelic football
in the area as a whole. The league was organised and run by Cuala’s
coaching department headed up by Denis Monaghan and Caroline Kenny
in partnership with The Sport & Social Integration Project’s
Ken FitzGerald. There were fifteen teams entered from ten schools
from the wider Dún Laoghaire area. The teams were divided
into three divisions as follows –
Division 1 Corn Liam MacCrudden
Scoil Colmcille, Ballybrack
Harold Boys, Dalkey (A)
Scoil Lorcáin, Baile na Manach (A)
Carysfort N.S., Blackrock (A)
The Harold School, Glasthule (A)
Division 2 Corn Christopher Cannon

The group stages were played every Tuesday for five weeks at Cuala’s
pitches in Dalkey and Tomastown road. It was in indication of the
evenness of the groups that no match was won or lost by large scores.
