The drilling might not have started in Dalkey just yet but Hyde Road was awash with precious metal on Sat 28th as Cuala celebrated the coming of age of its 1995 Boys. The on-shore occasion was the presentation of medals to the 2011 U16s following an amazing season and the culmination of a 10-year journey through the juvenile ranks for the players, their parents and their hard-working mentors who can rightly claim their charges were well-drilled.
Dublin stars Michael Fitzsimons and David Treacy were on hand, as usual, to do the honours. The new Minors (silver miners?) have no intention of taking a rest and some took the opportunity to remind the Dublin hurler star that he’d better watch his back.
