Motion 2015/01

That, in recognition of Cuala’s ongoing commitment to the GAA Code of Best Practice in Youth Sport and  following the deliberations and recommendation of the outgoing Coiste,

  1. that Joanne Wylde be appointed to the position of Children’s Officer with immediate effect and
  2. that she be co-opted to Coiste 2016.

Proposed By: Declan Murray, Cathaoirleach

Seconded  By: Tommy Drummond, Runaí

Rationale:
Pending a desired Constitutional change taking effect (separate motion), this is to ensure the outgoing Coiste’s recommended candidate for Children’s Officer is ratified without delay and is given an immediate place at Coiste.

2. The Coiste shall be elected annually by the Registered Full Members present, entitled to vote and voting at the Annual General Meeting and nominations to serve on the Coiste shall be any two such Registered Full Members.”

“4.2. The Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Treasurer,  Secretary and Registrar are Officers of the Club”

“4.3. The Coiste shall be comprised of five Officers (as set out in 4.2), SIX Games Representatives (one each for Adult, Ladies, Minors, Juvenile Girls, Juvenile Boys and Academy),  one Players’ Representative, and no more than three Other Members”

be replaced with these alternative provisions (of which the key changes are highlighted in bold underline for illustration only) –

“2.1. With the exception of the Children’s Officer,  the Coiste shall be elected annually by the Registered Full Members present, entitled to vote and voting at the Annual General Meeting and,  nominations to serve on the Coiste shall be any two such Registered Full Members.

2.2. The Children’s Officer shall be appointed at the Annual General Meeting on the recommendation of the outgoing Coiste.

4.3. The Coiste shall be comprised of six Officers (as set out in 4.2), six Games Representatives (one each for Adult, Ladies, Minors, Juvenile Girls, Juvenile Boys and Academy), one Players’ Representative and no more than two Other Members.”

b) And that any supporting regulations be updated; specifically, that Coiste updates and publishes the Club’s Standing Orders, Voting Guide and Decision Making Protocols.

Proposed by:  Declan Murray, Cathaoirleach

Seconded by: Tommy Drummond, Runaí

Rationale:
Pending the finalisation of a new Constitution and its approval by Cuala Members and the Dublin County Board, this motion is to give formal effect to –

  • the inclusion of the Cuala Children’s Officer as a full Officer of the Club,
  • special arrangements for the nomination of Children’s Officer at future AGMs

This is consistent with the Official Guide of the GAA. And is unanimously supported by the outgoing Coiste.
The overall maximum size of Coiste will remain at 15.
If approved at the 2015 AGM, the revised rule will become operational in the run-up to AGM 2016.

9.5. Subscriptions paid by new Juvenile Members  before 2 December shall be accepted at the 2015 rate and shall not be subject to any arrears.

Proposed By:  John Lane, Treasurer
Seconded By: Adrian Dunne, Registrar
Rational:
No increase in Subscriptions for those who pay on time (Col B)
Increase the ‘penalty’ for late payment  (Col A)
Allow an additional month for instalments (now spread over 4 months Feb – May)

Motion: 2015/05

That Rule 9.6. be extended as follows – the significant changes & additions being  show here in bold underline –

9.6.1. For every Annual Subscription received before 1 March, including instalment arrangements made under  9.2, a discount shall be applied such that the amount payable will be as set out in Column B

Motion: 2015/06

That Rule 9.1 be extended to accommodate these 2 new Subscription types  –

A

B

Introductory Juvenile (Playing)

€ 145

€ 145

Introductory Parent (Non-Playing)

€ 20

€ 20

And that these additional rules be added –

9.7.1. The Rate for “Introductory Parent (Non Playing)” shall apply to first-time subscriptions from NEW Full (Adult) Members who are parents or guardians of  Juvenile Members

9.7.2. The Introductory Parent (Non Playing) rate applies for two years following admission to the Club. “

Proposed By: Mick Murray, Academy Chairman

Seconded By: Seán O Dochraigh

Rational:
Introduce two new Subscription types –
– Introductory Juvenile (€20 less that standard renewal & still up to 15 months)
– Introductory Parent €20 (meaning club revenue from Juvenile intake is unaffected)
This will encourage easier parental engagement as members and facilitate a new process to automatically enrol Parent(s) at the same time as a child and at the same overall  cost and  with no additional paperwork burden.
