The big event this weekend is Saturday’s Annual Social and Awards night. Doors open at 7.30 p.m. with the Awards and Dinner to follow and then dancing till late.

Cuala Development Lotto  
The lotto wasn’t won so this week’s jackpot will be €3000. Our three €50 lucky dip winners were Pip Connolly, Donal Dunne and Gerry Comerford. Tickets for this week’s draw can be bought online at https://cualagaa.ie/lotto.

Football

In Adult football news, our AFL10 team started their league campaign with a convincing win at home to Na Fianna, winning 0-18 to 2-04. Our newly promoted AFL8 team also had a strong win at home against Geraldine Moran’s with a score of 3-11 to 0-07. Our AFL5 team’s game against St Sylvester’s was called off due to pitch conditions while our other newly promoted team in AFL1 narrowly lost away to Templeogue Synge St 1-10 to 1-08.

This year the Adult Football Section of Cuala GAA club is having its annual Golf Classic a little earlier in the year to coincide with the US Masters. The venue this year is:     Old Conna G.C. on Fri. 10th. April.   Tee-off from 1.00pm to 4.10pm.

You can support this event in a number of ways:

1.    By entering a team.

2.    Advertising your firm by sponsoring a hole for €100.

3.    Sponsor the ‘Longest Drive’ & ‘Nearest the pin’ competition.

4.    Make a financial contribution to the prize fund.

5.    Donate a prize for the raffle.

Commiserations to Conor Mullally Martin Cahalin and Sean Brennan members of the UCD Sigerson squad beaten by an injury time penalty in the semi final last Friday in Cork.

Hurling

Senior hurlers play Faughs in the first round of Leinster league in Bray Emmets ground this Saturday at 4pm. All support welcome.

Our newly formed adult Camogie teams are busy with their pre season preparations – in recent weeks they have recorded wins over St Oliver Plunketts and Bray Emmetts in challenge games before the competitive fare begins in April. Cuala will field two adult camogie teams in the league this year.

Juvenile and Academy

 

Good luck to all our Juvenile and Academy Girls who return to Go Game action this weekend, especially the 07 Girls who make their competitive debut this Sunday. Go n-éirí libh go léir.

This week sees our CCC2 hurling teams back in league action for 2015 – with under 13, 14, 15 and 16 teams playing at various locations on Saturday and Sunday. Good luck to them all for this weekend and the season ahead.

Two great organistaions, Cuala GAA & RESPECT, are proud to host ‘Night of the GAA Greats’ in Croke Park on Friday 27th March 2015

Micheál O’Muircheartaigh will be one of many among the legends of the GAA to attend a special national fundraiser for the charity RESPECT and Cuala GAA.

“This is a special evening to raise awareness and funds for the DOCTRID Research programme run by RESPECT,” said Cuala GAA Chairman Declan Murray. “This is a research initiative into how technology can enable assisted living for those with disability.We will also be raising money to help Cuala to press ahead with plans for new playing facilities to cater for the clubs membership of nearly 2,000 players.”

Cuala Boys & Girls in Blue
  • Well done to the 5 Cuala players, Paul and Mark Schutte, Cian O’Callaghan, Colm Cronin and David Treacy, on the Dublin Senior Hurling team who beat Kilkenny in the the league last Sunday on a scoreline of 3-11 to 0-25. In particular, congratulations to David Treacy on winning “Man of Match” and scoring 11 points in the process.
  • Best of luck to Michael Fitzsimons and the Dublin Senior Footballers in their League match with Kerry this weekend.
  • This weekend is a busy weekend for our Cuala Girls in Blue with 3 Dublin football teams playing in their Leinster Championship campaigns. The U14’s featuring Grainne O’Drisceoil, Rachel Hartnett and Grace Nash are first up on Saturday at 1.30 p.m. Grainne has the honour of captaining the team. Then at 3.00pm the Under 16’s ( Jennifer Dunne & Eimear O’Loughlin) are taking on Meath in Pairc Ui Murchu. On Sunday the Minor Team featuring annah O’Dea and Billy Kate Huggard take on Kildare at 2.00 pm in Chanel Park, Parnells GAA Club.
  • On the camogie front Sinead Murphy is on the Dublin minor squad for their game against Offaly in DCU at 230pm.on Saturday and Shane O’Brien’s Senior Dublin team had a good win over Derry last Sunday
